Join us on Sailing for Soul

A weekend of sailing & story and stimulating conversation

We offer you an opportunity to step out of your daily routine to join a group of men, your peers, to enjoy yourself and explore such questions as:

• I've achieved all of this ... but now what?

• I did what I was supposed to do ... but is this it?

• Who is the man I want to be going forward in my life?

We know it can be hard, amidst all the busyness and business of life, to find the right kind of space, the right kind of company and the right kind of activity to be with these questions. So we are offering a different kind of weekend away: a short journey of sailing, sea and story to facilitate exactly this kind of inquiry.

What is Sailing for Soul?

There is going to be sailing.

There will be a small group of peers.

There will be 2 facilitators and a professional skipper.

There will be an old folk story that will speak uniquely to you and evoke the kind of deep imagination needed to tackle questions of this size.

Further information about the facilitators and the event can be found below

Is it for me?

  • Are you curious about what lies over the horizon?

  • Are you starting to get a sense that something is stirring in your depths?

  • Have you been sailing along and a great disturbance has erupted into your life?

  • Are you experiencing a period of flat calm and wondering “is this it?”

Whilst some of these questions might be seem like a big deal, exploring them doesn’t have to be.

Meet the Team

  • Dan Perry - Facilitator & Sailor

As a seasoned sailor and transformational facilitator, I combine my passion for the sea with extensive life experience and training in coaching and facilitation work. Drawing from Jungian psychology and the power of myth, I co-create unique growth experiences for leaders aboard sailing vessels. This distinctive approach allows executives to step away from their usual environment and have a light-touch experience of personal work in a safe environment alongside peers.

My facilitation style is grounded in Jungian principles of individuation and archetypal psychology, with practical experience built over years of participating in and staffing transformational weekends with organizations such as The Mankind Project. As an NBHWC-accredited coach, I combine all of my lived experience into a powerful framework to support others.

Working with CEOs, founders, and other senior executives, I utilize this framework to help them explore leadership and personal transformation through powerful metaphors found in stories.

  • Paul Davey - Facilitator & Storyteller

What I care most about is seeing people live as who they truly are. So I work as a mentor, facilitator, storyteller and ritual ceremonialist and support the emergence of what I call Hearth centered culture.

For me the Hearth symbolises a community oriented culture that draws people towards a unifying centre, rather than dividing and separating us. At the heart of this is the understanding that we are indeed all in this Life together and it is our diversity that is the principle foundation of our collective resilience.

This Hearth centred focus emerged from the depths of my journey out of a previous fifteen year career as a coach in mental health services and from divorce, chronic ill health and trauma. The nine year journey that followed took me into a deep initiatory experience with the support of many people and processes and led to the kind of radical re-learning about myself that the great Hero’s Journey stories tell us of.

Alongside me throughout my whole life have been the stories; the whole world of myths and folktales that carry the wisdom of our ancestors down through countless generations. And so it has turned out that for me, living as I truly am, this now includes joining the ancient tradition of offering the medicine of the world’s deep treasury of stories.

These days I am thoroughly enjoying being 51 years old and living in Devon, where I also work alongside my partner as an organic market gardener.

Testimonials

Boris, Bristol:

“Paul creates and brings communities together that nourish the body and the soul.”

Grace, London:

“The eight weeks of mentoring I had with Paul were transformational. Paul is an incredible listener and his ability to infer meaning from the subtext of our conversations made me feel deeply heard and understood. My sessions with Paul have helped me to make sense of the world and my place in it, as well as giving me hope and excitement for the future. I can’t recommend his mentoring highly enough.”

Eva, Bristol:

“Paul's storytelling gift brings the whole room into quiet, still and attentive listening.

He weaves his words with wisdom, humour, and teachings that land gently in silence.”

Rob Burn - CEO & Founder Ten87 Studios, London

“Another powerful session, thank you.

This feels like such a transformative chapter in my life, personally, creatively and in business. And you’ve been a catalyst. Somehow, in just a few months, you’ve helped me clarify what I want to build and who I want to be while I’m building it.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have had this time with you.

Just honestly and deeply, thank you.”

Thomas Nolan - SVP Business Development ACC Holdco, LA

Thomas Nolan: SVP Business Development, ACC, Los Angeles

“Dan changed my life. He is a special person that brings an incredibly rare mixture of calm presence, insight and structured frameworks. Every session lifted me up and kept me grounded and accountable. He helped me process and articulate things I’d been feeling but needed help processing.

He helped me launch major initiatives in my life. Now, I’m excited, I am focused and in control of the narrative that I’m building for myself, for my family and with my work. Coaching did more than help me reset, it helped me design a sustainable and fulfilling next chapter of my life.

You may not need coaching because you’re lost. You need it when you’re ready to make a change. Dan is the kind of coach who will help you move from reactive to intentional, from good to great.”
